The Pac-12 Conference is chalked full of competitive football programs and Arizona State is just another team that has a real shot to take down a conference title every season. It’s never a bad time to be a Sun Devils fan because you can always expect ASU to show up on gameday and play hard. You can also be sure to have an unforgettable experience at Sun Devil Stadium each and every gameday. Tailgating with friends, beautiful Southwest weather, gorgeous people and one of the best college football atmospheres in the nation is about all any fan could ask for and that’s exactly what Arizona State fans have become accustom to on a weekly basis.
When it comes to pregame rituals and reputations, you can’t go wrong at Arizona State. Known as one of the nation’s top party schools (ranked 3rd in 2011 by none other than Playboy), there’s no doubt that ASU students and fans know how to have a good time. Tailgating comes standard at ASU, so come hungry for some Southwestern fare and thirsty for some cold light beer and by the time you leave for the stadium, you are sure to be satisfied and fully prepared for another great Sun Devils game.
Many of the parking lots and tailgating areas near Sun Devil Stadium are on a first come first serve basis, so as always, if you want a good spot, you gotta get there early. The gates for these lots open three and a half hours prior to kickoff, which will give you plenty of time to set up and get your tailgate on. There are also reserved areas that require a parking pass, but those areas will most likely give you more space and more time (open five hours before game time) to enjoy the festivities.
You know a school takes its gameday experience seriously when the local University organizations get involved. That’s what happened at ASU in 2011, when the Arizona State University Sun Devil Club designed a whole new experience for fans and tailgaters, moving it closer to campus while adding tons of new features, including live entertainment, big screen TVs, a Kid’s Zone and of course, plenty of food and beverage. Best of all, it’s free to get in. So if you don’t want the hassle of throwing your own pregame bash, just head on down to 6th and Packard up to five hours before kickoff. There’s so much to do before games at ASU that you will almost have to come back just to experience the full spectrum of college gameday at this wonderful sunny campus.
