Top 3 NBA Games This Weekend: Jan. 11-13

January 10, 2013 by Fandeavor

With the NBA entering its midseason, the action on the hardwood is only heating up. You won’t want to miss this weekend’s slate of games and fortunately you don’t have to because we have you covered with amazing experiences for each one. Check out the top three clashes in the Association this weekend!

1. Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Los Angeles Lakers on Friday, Jan. 11

On Friday, the surging Thunder will invade Staples Center and look to upend a star-studded Lakers team that is still trying to find some traction in the treacherous Western Conference. There will be no shortage of points in this contest, as these teams will enter the arena with two of the league’s top five scoring offenses, not to mention two of the league’s top scorers in Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant.

While the Thunder have remained as one of the most consistent teams in the league, the Lakers have hit a rough patch recently, losing their last five. However, they could easily rebound with a strong effort from Bryant and their other stars, including Steve Nash, Metta World Peace and Antawn Jamison. Of course, there will plenty of stars in the seats as well at Staples for this epic clash between two of the West’s superpowers.

2. Minnesota Timberwolves vs. San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, Jan. 13

Sunday will see several major NBA battles, but one of the biggest will be between the always steady San Antonio Spurs and the young, talent-laden Minnesota Timberwolves. True team basketball will, as always, be on display at the AT&T Center with the Spurs leading the league (again) in assists. Their unselfishness also helps them in being the third best scoring team in the league, so expect some high-octane action and stellar performances out of stars Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili to go along with the team dynamic.

Despite facing a gauntlet of significant injuries all season long, the T-Wolves have managed to remain in the hunt for a playoff spot out West, something they have not achieved in many years. Could this be their year? It may very well be, but they’ll have to win big games like this one to get to the promised land.

3. New Orleans Hornets vs. New York Knicks on Sunday, Jan. 13

Sunday’s lineup has another intriguing matchup between the up-and-coming New Orleans Hornets and one of the East’s finest, the New York Knicks. The Knicks have jumped out of the gate to an incredible 23-11 start, which is good enough to land them at the number two spot in the Eastern Conference standings, trailing only the defending champion Miami Heat.

Carmelo Anthony has led the way for the fifth highest scoring team in the league, but he and his Knicks will have to contend with rookie sensation Anthony Davis and a young Hornets team with a chip on their shoulder. You won’t want to miss this experience, which includes seats in section 106 at the world famous Madison Square Garden and deluxe transportation!
