Richmond International History & Location
To figure out your best seats at Richmond International Raceway, here’s a little about the history of this famous NASCAR track.
Known as “America’s premier short track”, Richmond International Raceway is a 3/4 mile, D-shaped oval track. The facility is located just outside of Richmond, Virginia near the intersection of Interstates 95 and 64 in Henrico County. Richmond is an extremely popular track, previously selling out all 51,000 seats over 33 straight NASCAR Cup Series races. Richmond is also one of the oldest tracks on the NASCAR circuit, founded as the Atlantic Rural Exposition Fairgrounds in 1946. The Richmond Raceway Complex is a 1,000 acre multi-purpose venue and hosts more than just NASCAR races. Like most NASCAR tracks, Richmond has multiple RV lots and tent camping options. Be sure to double-check your RV lot, since the Turn 3 RV lot is outside the track– just make sure that’s what you’re looking for.
