Raul and Gil – both lifelong Los Angeles Dodgers fans – took part in the VIP Fan Experience Package with Steve Lyons. They not only got to watch the Dodgers pull off an amazing comeback victory against crosstown rivals – the Los Angeles Angels – but they also got the rare opportunity to hang out on the field during batting practice before the game. And the entire day, they were accompanied by former MLB player and FOX Sports announcer Steve Lyons, who acted as their host. Here’s what Gil had to say about their incredible day at Dodger Stadium.
“We met Steve Lyons, former major leaguer and current Fox Sports Net Broadcaster, and he was the perfect host. Prior to the game, he took us on the field during Dodger and Angel batting practice. We were closer than ever to our hometown heroes. We took pictures with Steve Lyons, Juan Uribe 3rd baseman for the Dodgers, and 1st baseman Albert Pujols of the Angels! We are Dodger fans but to have an opportunity to meet the legendary Pujols, one of the most feared batters in the game of baseball in the past decade, was a real treat! We even took a photo on the field where Dodger icon Ron Cey was behind us. Steve also introduced us to Jim Hill, a longtime Sportscaster for the top L.A. TV networks. It was a great experience.”
But Raul and Gil weren’t even close to be being done with their journey through Dodgertown. Mr. Lyons then took his guests on a tour of the Dodgers Hall of Fame, where they got to see the team’s trophies and awards up close, including gold gloves and even the the Dodgers’ World Series trophies!
Then it was time to play ball! Gil said that he and Raul will always remember watching the game with Steve Lyons:
“The best part of the game was having Steve Lyons sit in between us and chat with us for 8 innings. What an experience to watch a game with a current Sportscaster who offered unique insights and anecdotes on the game and the players on the field. He was a likeable and generous host who made us feel welcome.”
To add the icing to the birthday cake, the Dodgers won the game in thrilling fashion! Said Gil:
“The Dodgers were losing to the Angels 6 to 1 in the first couple innings but came back slowly but surely to tie the game and then go on to WIN 8 to 7! The weather was perfect….the seats just to the right of home plate were awesome….and the company was unforgettable.
