The game is a glimpse into the future of the league, as its youngest stars do battle on the hardwood. Last year’s Rookie of the Year award winner, Kyrie Irving, dazzled the crowd with a 34-point barrage while leading his team to victory and the good news is he’ll be back this year as a sophomore. New Orleans’ Anthony Davis, Portland’s Damian Lillard and Minnesota’s Ricky Rubio are just a few of the ballers who will join him playing for teams coached by Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkely.
East vs. West All-Star Skills Competitions – Saturday, Feb.16
Saturday night will ignite the rivalry between the East and West teams, as they compete in a set of four skills challenges, which will be very familiar to regular viewers of All-Star Weekend. First up is the Shooting Stars Challenge, which will feature current and former NBA stars, as well as some of the best players from the WNBA. Then it’s time for the Taco Bell Skills Challenge, which will test the passing and ball-handling abilities of the league’s top guards. The night will then conclude will its two most famous and popular events, the Foot Locker Three-Point Contest and the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest. The team that tallies the most overall points wins the night and wins some cash for charity.
All-Star Game – Sunday, Feb.17
The main event – the All-Star Game itself – will take place the next night on Sunday, pitting the best players from each conference against one another in the most thrilling spectacle of the weekend.
